Curtis Packaging, a supplier of sustainable luxury print packaging, has received three industry awards in recognition of its unprecedented business growth over the last 12 months. A strong business growth strategy, spearheaded by James Williams, Managing Director, saw the company increase its turnover by 13.3% to £8.5 million. By relocating its entire operations and investing in a new press, Curtis Packaging expanded its facility footprint by 70%, improved production time by 64% and optimised operational efficiencies by 20%. In acknowledgement of Curtis Packaging’s 2017 successes, the company was awarded SME of the Year, UK Packaging Awards; Packaging Printer of the Year, and was highly commended for Company of the Year, PrintWeek Awards; plus, won Solutions for Packaging Development, Print Solutions Awards.

James Williams, Managing Director explains: “2017 has been a phenomenal year for us: we increased our operations, turnover, profit margins, productivity levels and headcount. We now have also won three prestigious accolades. Our 2018 strategic growth plans will see us continue to invest in new print machinery to meet the evolving market trends for smaller, more versatile and sustainable luxury packaging solutions in Europe. We aim to facilitate consumers’ on-the-go lifestyles and satisfy their desire to balance quality packaging and eco-consciousness through adopting new ways to produce innovative environmentally-friendly luxury print packaging”.

Curtis Packaging designs and prints sustainable luxury packaging for pioneering brands across market sectors including fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), cosmetics, food, beverages and chocolate. An experienced team ensures that the design and print packaging convey the brand quality and values that the product inside brings in order to make the merchandise stand out in a crowded marketplace.

Paul Lindley, Founder, Ella’s Kitchen reveals why his company works with Curtis Packaging: “Since creating our organic baby and toddler food brand in 2006 we have worked with Curtis Packaging. They believe in our brand values and invest the time to take our vision of healthy food forward with us. It is a true partnership; we come up with packaging design ideas and they turn these into eye-catching, workable, cost-effective solutions. Our ethos is about creating healthy relationships with food which is good for the planet. Curtis Packaging’s environmental credentials and solutions mirror our message. Not only do they understand our brand they are part of its success story”.

To facilitate its 2017 growth strategy, Curtis Packaging implemented a relocation plan called ‘Project Lock, Stock and Barrel’. This involved moving into a larger, more efficient facility in Redhill, Surrey to accommodate the investment of a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 75 press. The company relocated 95% of production equipment over one weekend with minimal downtime. The £750,000 investment in a new press complemented Curtis Packaging’s overall print packaging solutions to facilitate small (750 x 520) to large (1020 x 720) formats and shorter print runs. As a direct result of the flexibility and capacity achieved by the printing investment and relocation plan, Curtis gained an additional £1 million in sales.
