Grab & Go

group-shotsm group-shotsmIn a UK segment worth £3.5 billion per annum – that’s two-billion sandwiches! – the need for innovation to introduce industrial scale manufacturing processes to match that of demand was evident.

The Grab bag pack from National Flexible, formed using standard flow wrapping machinery with a few modifications, uses film on the reel and reduces the major cost expense of hand packing, whilst also improving manufacturing efficiency by packing at an optimal speed of 30 packs per minute.

Having already won a 2014 Starpack Award for a kraft paper laminate with a registered window, National Flexible were able to tailor a similar structure to create the perfect Grab bag pack.

This laminate, which is currently available with a paper finish or alternative more cost effective paper-feel lacquer, needs no pre-creasing and the window aligns 100% every time. The reduced thickness film sits neatly on the shelf for superior pack presentation, and the combination of the laminate presentation on an automated machine is a breakthrough for sandwich packing and presentation.
